ATTENTION ! Damage to the hedge trimmer !
V Never clean the hedge trimmer under running

water or with a water jet (in particular a high
pressure water jet).
1. Clean the hedge trimmer with a damp cloth.
2. Lubricate the trimmer blade
GARDENA spray-oil Art. 2366). Avoid contact of the oil with
the plastic parts and wear gloves.
DANGER ! Risk of physical injury !
Cutting injuries can be caused if the hedge trimmer

does switch on unintentionally.
V Remove the battery before troubleshooting
(see 4. Initial Operation) and slide the protective

Possible cause
Battery is flat.
Battery not pushed onto
the handle properly.
When rotating the cutting unit, it
was not engaged at 0° or 90°.
When tilting the swivel head, it
was not engaged between 75°
and -45°.
Hedge Trimmer overheats.
Blade blunt or damaged.
Battery not plugged in
properly.
A fault has occurred.
Battery is defective.
Only the original GARDENA Replacement Battery 18 V
(Art. 8835 / 8839) may be used. This can be obtained from
your GARDENA dealer or directly from GARDENA Service.

Remedy
v Charge battery (see
4. Initial Operation).
v Push battery onto the handle
and make sure that the
locking buttons snaps in
correctly.
v When rotating the cutting
unit, engage it at 0° or 90°.
v When tilting the swivel head,
engage it between 75° and
-45°.
v Let Hedge Trimmer cool for
30 seconds.
v Have blade replaced by
GARDENA-Service.
v Plug in battery charger and
charging cable properly.
v Unplug and reinsert
charging cable. The fault
will be reset.
v Replace the battery
(Art. 8835 / 8839).
