Rack Installation Guide

This installation guide provides instructions for trained service technicians to install one or

more Dell™ systems in a Dell four-post rack cabinet. All Dell four-post rack cabinets are

accommodated. One rack kit is required for each system to be installed in the rack cabinet.

Before attempting this installation, you should read this entire document carefully.

The rack kit includes the following items (see Figure 1-1):

•

One pair of slide assemblies with mounting brackets

•

One cable-management arm

•

Three 6-32 x 0.25-inch pan-head hex-head taptite screws

•

Two 6-32 x.0.25 flat-head Phillips screws

•

One cable tray

•

One rack template

NOTE: The number of parts may vary for rack kits preinstalled by Dell.

NOTE: If you have purchased a Dell rack cabinet with your system, some of the hardware may

be preinstalled in the rack.

NOTE: The nonmetric screws described in illustrations and procedural steps are identified by

size and the number of threads per inch. For example, a #10 Phillips-head screw with

32 threads per inch is identified as a 10-32 screw.
