TROUBLESHOOTING
Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions. If you think that there is something wrong with this component, check the
points below. Sometimes the trouble may lie in another component. Investigate the other components and electrical appliances being used.
If the trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising the checks listed below, ask your nearest PLONEER authorized service center or your dealer to
carry out repair work.
No power supplied to unit.
Power plug is disconnected from outlet.
¢ The component power plug has been plugged
into another component power outlet (e.g.
timer, etc.) but power to that unit is
disconnected.
e insert plug securely into outlet.
@ Turn on power to the other component.
Connecting cords are disconnected from
¢ Connect securely.
terminals, or connected incorrectly.
¢ Both the shorting bars are disconnected from
ADAPTOR terminals, and the DIRECT switch is
set to OFF.
© Terminals, or connecting cords pin plugs are
dirty.
e INPUT SELECTOR switch is not set to the
desired input source.
© Operation of other components is incorrect.
® Connect the shorting bars securely.
Clean terminals and plugs.
e Set the switch correctly (PHONO, TUNER, CD,
LINE, TAPE 1/DAT, TAPE 2).
® Consult the operating instructions for the other
components.
Set the switch to "A", "B", or "A + B".
@ Set MUTING switch to the off position (the
indicator goes off).
e The SPEAKERS selector switch is set to "OFF".
@ MUTING switch is in the on position (the
indicator is lit). (A-402 only)
Connecting cords or speaker cords are
disconnected on that side.
@ BALANCE control has been adjusted to one
side.
e The position of REC SELECTOR switch is
incorrect.
® Connections are incorrect.
® Operation of cassette deck is incorrect.
No sound from one speaker.
e Connect securely.
¢ Adjust BALANCE
control to center position.
e Set switch correctly (See section "RECORDING
TAPES").
e Reconnect properly.
e¢ Consult the operating instructions of the cassette
deck.
® Set switch correctly (See section "COPYING
TAPES").
Consult the operating instructions of the cassette
decks.
Cannot record tapes.
e The position of REC SELECTOR switch is
incorrect.
© Operation of cassette decks are incorrect.
Cannot perform tape copying.
