7. General Information

The DSM 2 is a component of the Dupline installation system. It permits the switching of
two independent loads, which may be operated on different phases. Each load can have
a current consumption of up to 16 A.
The switching status of the relays is indicated by two LEDs on the front of the device.
The DSM 2 also provides for the connection of four additional loads with a power supply
of 24 VDC and a current consumption of up to 50 mA per channel. These loads could be
e.g. control inputs from components of the SI Building management System.
The green LED located in the frontal coding and test socket indicates that the Dupline
bus signal is functioning properly.
The all-or-nothing relays are designed for retentivity, which means that their status is
stored should a power failure occur. A faulty Dupline signal will result in all outputs being
automatically either switched on or switched off.

8. Coding

With the hand encoder DHK 1 each channel can be assigned any address between A1
and P8 using the modular plug at the front of the DSM 2. The channel allocation is as
follows:
Channel
1
Relay output signal 1
2
Relay output signal 2
3
Not assigned
4
Not assigned
Functions which are not required should remain uncoded. Coding the DSM 2 can be car-
ried out without supply voltage or Dupline signal. Although it is permanently retained, it
may always be overwritten.
The outputs are configured at the works so that they are switched on if a bus failure oc-
curs. This configuration can also be changed with the DHK 1 (as described in the Ope-
rating Instructions for the DHK 1). If the value "0" is configured all outputs are switched
off in the event of a bus failure; if "1" is set; they are switched on.

9. Putting into Service

Commissioning may only be carried out by an authorised trained technician. Observe the
connection diagram when installing. All lines to be connected must be dead. Connec-
tions between the Dupline signal and the 24V supply, or connections to earth potential,
will cause malfunctions and are not permissible.
Check that the polarity of the supply voltage and the Dupline signal are correct.
As the semiconductor outputs are not short-circuit-proof, special care has to be taken
with their connection.
