DS500X

The following tools and equipment are required to

install the DS500X:

•

Compass or handheld GPS

•

Cordless drill & 6mm bit

•

Solvent-cement

•

Small hammer

•

75 x 75mm drive-in metpost spike, drive-in

tool, sledge hammer & packing material

•

Long cable ties or at least 100mm long

screws & appropriate tools

1) Fix the mounting post. The post should be

installed vertical and secure and where possible,

away from buildings or vegetation so that there is

free air movement to the sampler.

If the selected monitoring location has soft ground

the mounting post should be securely fixed into a

met-post or similar (available from builder's

suppliers or DIY shops), see photo top right. You

must ensure there are no underlying services or

cables at the desired monitoring location.

If the selected monitoring location has hard

ground you should fix the post to an existing

structure such as a fence or wall using cable ties

or screws (see examples bottom right). If the post

is installed flush to a structure, make sure the top

of the post has adequate clearance to allow

subsequent components to be installed.

Either way the post should be installed so that the

inlet, monitoring head and directional sampling

cylinders can be safely installed on top to facilitate

sample collection.
