9. Safe and Efficient Use of RackEye
Limitations of RackEye™
RackEye™ is an indication device only and aims to reduce potential injury or death through early warning of
damaged or unsafe racking. However, RackEye™ devices can only operate effectively if they are correctly located,
installed, and maintained. RackEye™ is not a substitute for periodic manual inspection of your facility racking to the
appropriate standards. RackEye™ requires connection to the A-SAFE Gateway, which requires connection to a GSM
or wifi network for notifications to function.
Product Training
It is important that all members of staff who interact with RackEye™ are aware of its purpose and understand its
features. A-SAFE can provide training for all users of RackEye™, including app and control panel training. For more
information on RackEye™ Product Training visit www.a-safe.com.
Racking Protection
In combination with RackEye™, it is advisable that suitable racking impact protection is used throughout your facility.
For more information on racking impact protection options visit www.a-safe.com.

10. Product Care & Maintenance
Handling RackEye™
RackEye contains sensitive components. Do not drop, disassemble, microwave, burn, paint, or insert foreign
objects into Rackeye™. Do not use a RackEye™ if it has been damaged – for example, if it is cracked, punctured,
or damaged by water.
Cleaning RackEye™
Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth to clean the outer surfaces of RackEye™ if required. Avoid getting moisture
in openings. Do not use window cleaners, industrial cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or
abrasives to clean RackEye™.
Avoiding Water and Wet Locations
Do not expose RackEye™ to water or rain or handle near wet locations. If RackEye™ gets wet, remove the
batteries, and allow to dry thoroughly before replacing the batteries. Do not attempt to dry RackEye™ with an
external heat source, such as a microwave oven or hair dryer. Damage to RackEye™ caused by contact with liquid
is not covered under warranty.
Repair and Modification
Do not attempt to repair or modify RackEye™ yourself. RackEye™ does not contain any user-serviceable parts,
except for the AA batteries. Disassembling RackEye™ may cause damage that is not covered under the warranty.
If RackEye™ has been submerged in water, punctured, or subjected to a severe drop, do not use, and contact
A-SAFE in relation to returns and replacements. For further information contact asafe.com.
Battery Replacement
The batteries supplied with a RackEye™ device are estimated to have a 2-year life-span. Only batteries approved
and supplied by A-SAFE should be used for replacement. It is not recommended to use re-chargeable batteries or
batteries not approved and supplied by A-SAFE.
Operating Temperatures
RackEye™ is designed to operate in temperatures between -20° and 40°C (-4° to 104°F). Low or high temperature
conditions might temporarily shorten battery life or cause RackEye™ to temporarily stop working properly. Avoid
dramatic changes in temperature or humidity where RackEye™ is in use as condensation may form on or within
the device.
Exposure to Radio Frequency Energy
RackEye™ is designed, tested, and manufactured to comply with the limits for exposure to RF energy set by
international the Council of the European Union.
For more information about the scientific research related to RF energy exposure, see the World Health
Organisation's EMF Research Database at: www.who.int/peh-emf/research/database.
Radio Frequency Interference
Radio-frequency emissions from electronic equipment can negatively affect the operation of other electronic
equipment causing them to malfunction. Although RackEye™ is designed, tested, and manufactured to comply with
regulations governing radio frequency emissions in the European Union, the wireless transmitters and electrical
circuits in RackEye™ may cause interference in other electronic equipment.
