HP 316095-B21 - StorageWorks Edge Switch 2/24 Nota de lançamento
Issue
If Frame Redirection (FR) zones are being used with
M-series switches and directors and there are FR
zones loaded on all switches in the fabric, FR zones
will be lost on the M-series switches and directors
upon power cycle. When this happens, any device
that attempts to log in on any port will have the port
it uses blocked (via Event #012: "Redirect Zones
database no longer intact. Blocking all N-ports.")
The name server database sometimes may be out
of sync after power cycle of an Mi10K director in
a fabric with other switches and directors. This is
seen as a different number of entries in the
nameserver of the different switches, and could
result in devices in the fabric not establishing com-
munications with devices connected to the Mi10K
after the Mi10K completes powering up.
In Open Fabric mode, adding zone members in
Domain, Port format is not prohibited, even though
they are ignored, as only zone members in WWN
format are effective in Open Fabric mode. However,
if in Open Fabric mode and zone members in Do-
main, Port format are added, this will cause a zone
merge failure if there is an Mi10K director in the
fabric.
Invalid IP addresses can be erroneously accepted
for syslog recipients.
In a mixed fabric (M-series and B-series switches)
in McDATA Fabric interop mode, devices will be
prevented from logging in to a switch or director
that is Power On Recycled (POR) when RD Zones
are configured. This can be evidenced by the name
server database being empty and F_ports not com-
ing online.
After restoring configuration and changing domain
ID of a switch, occasionally the switch may not join
the fabric .
If an external loopback diagnostic test is run, and
the loopback plug/cable has erroneously not been
connected, and the test is stopped before it com-
pletes, then the port will be failed and become inop-
erable.
Workaround
Use one of the following workarounds:
If the switches are still in a fabric with FR zones activ-
ated, perform the CLI cfgsave command on any
Brocade switch running FOS. This will push the FR
zones to all M-series switches and directors in the
fabric.
If the switches are no longer in a fabric with FR zones
activated, run the CLI command disableSplZone-
Set on each M-series switch or director that was
power cycled to clear the invalid FR zone database.
After completing the workaround, any port with an
attached device that was blocked will become
unblocked. The device will then be allowed to login.
After power cycling an Mi10K in your fabric, check the
nameserver entries in the Mi10K and the other switches
in your fabric. Setting a discrepant switch offline and
then online will cause the nameserver databases to sync
up. This would be disruptive to devices connected to the
switch that is set offline, and should be planned for ac-
cordingly.
Do not add zone members in Domain, Port format if
operating in Open Fabric mode.
When entering an IP address for a syslog recipient, use
caution not to include invalid characters (alphabetic and
special characters).
To allow the devices to login if this occurs is to either
execute "cfgsave" from a B-series switch in the fabric,
or delete the RD zones locally using the CLI.
Taking the switch offline and then back online will allow
the switch to join the fabric. This would be disruptive to
devices connected to the switch that is set offline, and
should be planned for accordingly.
This can be avoided by allowing the test to complete,
and to be sure to use an external loopback plug/cable
when executing this test. If a port is failed in this way,
a port reset will recover the port.
