If the RMC­150 fails to make contact with the SE­500 you will see this warning. 
You will also notice that the virtual buttons do not light up. 
The most likely causes of this are: 
You are not using the correct type of CAT 5 cable ­ Crossover for connection directly between the RMC­150 
and a PC / Straight through for connection via a hub. 
Your PC is not set to an appropriate IP Address. Go into network settings and set the IP address correctly.
