Nine DIMM slots are available for the main memory on the system board of the

server blade. Of these, six slots are assigned to CPU 1 and three slots to CPU 2

(see

figure 10 on page

Each slot can be populated with 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB single, dual or quad

ranked DIMM memory modules. There is only support for x4 DIMMs with ECC.

The server blade supports up to 72 GB main memory. The minimum memory

configuration is 1 DIMM in Independent Channel Mode.

ECC with memory scrubbing and Single Device Data Correction (SDDC) are

standard.

There are three modes of operation for the main memory:

Independent Channel Mode (maximum memory configuration)

The populated memory can be used in full (maximum 72 GB).

Mirrored Channel Mode (maximum security)

Only the populated memory in the 2 channels A and D (see

page

24) can be used (maximum 24 GB). The channels B and E are for

failure protection purposes only. They contain the mirrored data from

channels A and D. Channels C and F are not used.

Spare Channel Mode (high memory configuration with high security)

Only the populated memory in the 4 channels A, B, D and E can be used

(max. 32 GB). Channels C and F are for failure protection purposes only.
