Retractable lens Mechanism
The lens
can
be
retracted
when not in
use.

The
lens
extends when
the
camera
is
turned on and
retracts
when
the
came
ra is
turned
off (power
retract
ion).
LOCK:
The
lens does
not retract when
the
ca mera
is
turned off,
and
can
be
used
immed
iately after
the
camera is turned on. To
retract the
lens, slide
the retractable lens
lock
switch
to
OFF
before turn
ing
the
camera off.
Slide
the power drive zoom switch
to
T to
zoom
in
on
the
subject so
that
it
fi
ll
s a large
r
area
of the frame, or sl ide the switch
toW
to
increase the
area visible
in
th
e fina
l
photograph.

Using a Lens Hood
Lens
hoods
pro
tect
the lens and block stray light
that
wou
ld otherwise
cause
flare
or
ghostin
g.

Attach
the
hood
as
shown
in

2.
Align the lens hood
lock
mark

the
lens
hood
mounting

1=1 on the lens (Figure 2-01.
Whe
n
attach
ing or removing
the
hood,
hold
it
nea
r
the
(r
)
symbol
on
its
base
and
avoid gripping
it
too
tightly.
Vig netting may occur
if the
hood is not correct ly
attached.
The
hood can
be
reversed
and
mounted
on
the
lens when
not
in use.
When
the hood
is
reversed,
it
can be attached and removed
by
rotating
it w hile
holding
it
nea
r
the lock
ma
rk

vibration reduction.
Lens Care
When using a tripod, attach an optional
TA-NlOO
tripod mounting spacer to the cam-
era. See the camera manual for more
information.
When using a
lens
hood, do
not p1ck up
or
hold
the
lens
or camera using
only
the
hood.
·
Keep the
CPU contacts
clean.
Use a
blower
to
remove dust
and
lint
from the lens surfaces. To
remove
sm udges
and
fi
n-
gerprints, apply
a
small amount of
ethanol
or lens cleaner
to a
soft,
clean cotton cloth
or
lens-cleaning tissue and clean
from
the center
outwards using a circu lar motion, tak
ing
care
not
to
leave smears
or
touch
the glass with your fi ngers.
·
Never use organic
solven
ts such as paint
thin
ner
or benzene
to
clean
the lens.
·
The
lens
hood or NC fi lters ca
n
be used to
protect
th
e
front
lens
element.
Attach
the
front and
rear
caps when
the lens
is
not
in
use
If
the
lens
will
not
be used fo
r
an extended period. store
it
in
a
coo
l, dry locatiOn to preven
t
mold
and
rust.
Do not store
in
direct
su nlight or with
naphtha
or camphor
moth balls.

Keep the
lens dry.
Rusting of

mechanism can cause
