13. This stage requires you to use a computer to check the spin direction of the motors. Download
the Cleanflight Configurator from the Goggle Chrome Web Store (note that the Chrome web
browser is required by Cleanflight, and should be installed first). You may also need to install a
USB to UART driver: http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/pages/usbtouartbridgevcpdrivers.aspx.
With the software installed, plug the Naze FC back into the PDB (leave the OSD unplugged) and
connect to your computer using a micro USB cable. Open Cleanflight, select the correct COM port
and the baud rate as 11520, and then click 'connect'. If the board connects successfully you'll be
shown the setup tab. To test the motor spin directions, go to the 'Motors' tab. Before plugging in
your battery, check that none of the motor/ESCs wires are exposed. Now plug in your flight
battery and agree to the motor test mode notice. The motors are powered up by raising their
corresponding slider. One by one, spin up a motor and with reference to the diagram above,
observe its spin direction. Most likely some of the motor directions will need to be reversed. Take
note of which motors needs to be reversed and then disconnect the battery and the USB. To
change the spin direction of a motor, interchange two of the three cables connecting the motor
with its ESC by desoldering and then resoldering them. The spin direction should now be correct,
but we advise that you check by repeating the motor test procedure. When you are satisfied that
the spin directions are correct, use a heat gun to fix the heat shrink in position.
14. Now attach the tall M3 spacers to the
topside of the PDB, using the M3x6mm button
head screws, applying a drop of thread lock to
each screw.
15. The Naze FC is held securely in place using
two nylon spacers. Installed these spacers using
the provided plastic screws. Note that when
you attach the Naze board, a plastic washer sits
on top of each plastic spacer below the Naze.
