1. Print Drivers

Fax

The Aficio 1515MF offers a robust suite of

walk-up fax features, including a Super G3

33.6-Kbps modem and JBIG compression,

batch transmission, serial broadcasting and

send later. The unit offers 16 quick dials that are

available as one-touch keys on the keypad, and

150 speed dials, which are accessed through

user codes or the address book. Further, 10

group dials (with a maximum of 100 numbers

per group) are available. Fax forwarding via

e-mail enables users to route incoming faxes

directly to a specified workstation, eliminating

the need for users to walk up to the unit in order

to retrieve their faxes.

With the Local Area Network (LAN) fax fea-

ture, users can transmit fax documents directly

from the workstation via the company's inter-

nal LAN, eliminating individual phone lines

for PC or standalone faxes. Users can also

receive electronic confirmation on sent faxes,

and documents that are sent directly from the

workstation do not experience any of the image

degradation that can result from the scanning

and conversion (scanned data to fax data) pro-

cess. LAN faxing also contributes to the unit's

low TCO by eliminating the need to print prior

to transmission, reducing paper and consum-

able consumption.

Security

For users who require increased document

protection, the unit offers an Extended Security

function. When this function is enabled by the

proprietary report or excerpts from this report, in any manner, whether printed or electronic (including, but not limited to, copying, faxing, scanning or use on a fax-back

residing in the device's memory is protected.

Thus, when a copy or print job is completed, or

a job is canceled, the data is secure. In addition,

any phone line dedicated for faxing is protected

to accept only fax calls. Further, the key opera-

tor must input an access code (maximum of

eight digits, minimum of six digits) when pro-

gramming the Extended Security function.

User codes enable administrators to control

who uses the machine by setting codes for

users. User codes also assist in tracking the cost

for departmental charge backs.

Administrative Utilities

The Aficio 1515MF is equipped with Web

SmartDeviceMonitor, Web Image Monitor and

SmartDeviceMonitor. These utilities enable

administrators and users to remotely mon-

itor and manage all the functions of the

unit (copy, print, scan and fax) from a PC.

Administrators and users can monitor paper

tray and toner level status, program fax num-

bers into the device and view the configuration

of the device either via a Web browser (Web

SmartDeviceMonitor or Web Image Monitor)

or by clicking on an icon located on the

Windows taskbar (SmartDeviceManager). In

addition, by managing address book data for

scan to e-mail via Web SmartDeviceMonitor

or SmartDeviceMonitor, users will be able to

upload comma separated values (.csv) data to

the Aficio 1515MF's address book, simplify-

ing the process of entering a large number of

e-mail addresses. Further, users will be able

export the address book in order to backup/

transfer data to their mail system, and will

also be able to register, edit and delete address

book data.
