CD - Direct CD/Peak Level Search
Direct CD

Since the picture circuit is deactivated and the interference
between signals is eliminated with the Direct CD function,
more pure sound can be reproduced.
@ When the Direct CD function is activated, the player does
not display information on the monitor screen.
e@ In Direct CD mode, time for starting play becomes short
compared with that of normal play operation.
1 Press DIRECT CD on the front panel.

To exit Direct CD mode:
Press DIRECT CD again. Also, when the video part of CDV is
played, Direct CD mode is canceled automatically.
To play an LD:
Cancel the Direct CD mode. Otherwise, the LD cannot be set
on the disc table.
NOTE:
During LD or CDV {video part) play, the player does not enter
Direct CD mode even if DIRECT CD is pressed.
When playing the audio part of CDV, you can press DIRECT
cD.
With this function, the peak level of CD or CDV (audio part) can
easily be searched for. This is convenient for adjusting the
proper recording level.
To search for the peak level of the entire disc:
1 Press PEAK SEARCH on the front panel.

The player scans the entire disc and searches for the peak
level.
It takes for about 1 minute and 20 seconds with 60-
minute disc. While searching, the PEAK indicator is lit on the
display.
To search for the peak level of the programmed tracks:
Program the desired tracks beforehand (page 34) and press
PEAK SEARCH.
The player scans all of the programmed
tracks and searches for the peak level between them.
To adjust the recording level
1. When the player detects the peak level, the section which
contains the peak level is played repeatedly for about 8
seconds.
2. Adjust the recording fevel on the tape deck.
3. Set the tape deck to recording mode and start CD play by
pressing >/>i<.
NOTES:
@ The player sometimes
detects the different peak
level
even
when
the
peak
search
function
is
carried out on one disc.
@ With
some
discs,
the player cannot
detect
the
proper peak level. This is not a malfunction.
