Do not perform a forced exit of the uploader software, turn the camera off,
or disconnect the USB cable during the upload process. Doing so could
result in a malfunction of the Coolpix 2500 Digital Camera.
10. The firmware upload process will begin.
A progress bar will appear on your computer monitor. (This progress bar
may flash during the upload process on Windows PCs.) During the
upload process, the following messages will be displayed.
"Uploading... DO NOT TURN CAMERA OFF!"
"Writing Firmware... DO NOT TURN CAMERA OFF! "
The upload process will take between three and ten minutes depending
on your computer model and settings.
IMPORTANT: On computers running Windows ME and Windows 2000,
the Windows message "Device removal warning" will appear during the
upload process. This is a standard system message and can be ignored.
When the "Writing Firmware is complete" message appears, click "OK" at
the bottom of the "Device removal warning" dialog to exit this warning.
IMPORTANT: On computers running Windows XP, a "Removable Disk"
window may appear during the upload process. This is a standard system
message and can be ignored. When the "Writing Firmware is complete"
message appears, click "Cancel" to close the "Removable Disk" window.
If Windows Explorer is displayed, click the Close box to exit the Explorer.
11. The firmware update is complete when the message "Writing Firmware is
complete" is displayed. Click "Close".
12. Remove the camera from the system.
a. Windows XP users:
Click the "Unplug or Eject Hardware" icon in the taskbar and select
"Disable USB Mass Storage Device Drive (E:)" from the menu that
appears. (The name displayed for the drive (ex. "E:") may vary by
computer.)
b. Windows 2000 Professional users:
Click the "Unplug or Eject Hardware" icon in the taskbar and select
"Disable USB Mass Storage Device Drive (E:)" from the menu that
appears. (The name displayed for the drive (ex. "E:") may vary by
computer.)
c. Windows Me users:
Click the "Unplug or Eject Hardware" icon in the taskbar and select
"Disable USB Disk (E:)" from the menu that appears. (The name
displayed for the drive (ex. "E:") may vary by computer.)
