Reset to Factory Default Values
• This resets values for debug menu items V, A and AH to factory default values.
• Using the SET button, step to the fifth item of the debug menu.
• The LED display will show "dEF" on the top line and "-n-" on the bottom line.
• Press the V/W button to select "-y-" (Yes), or
• Press the A/AH button to select "-n-" (No).
• Save the settings by pressing the SET button to confirm the -y- or –n- selection.
Setting the Value for Remaining Amp-hour and Remaining Capacity %
Such resets are necessary for the initial installation of either the meter or a battery, so
that the display correctly registers the actual remaining capacity of the battery, as
opposed to the rated capacity of the battery.
• Charge the battery fully.
• Ensure that the panel meter is in normal operational mode, not in debug mode.
• Momentarily press the A/AH button repeatedly until the AH LED is lit.
• Press and hold the A/AH button until the AH LED blinks.
• Press and hold the A/AH button until reading is reduced to the correct value, or
• Press and hold the V/W button until the reading is increased to the correct value.
• Momentarily press the SET button to save the value.
Saving the Presently Displayed Amp-hour and % Capacity Readings
• Ensure that the panel meter is in normal operational mode, not debug mode.
• Momentarily press the A/AH button repeatedly until the AH LED is lit.
• Then momentarily press the SET button to save the value.
• The display will be extinguished by the previous step but can be restored by a
momentary press of the SET button.
Alternative Method for Setting the Value of Remaining Amp-hour Capacity
The original English manual suggests discharging the battery fully and then setting
the Amp-hour (AH) value on the meter to zero with the battery in this state. The
actual AH capacity can then be measured on the meter by the amount of charge
applied to the battery to fully charge it.
Fully discharging a lead-acid battery will significantly reduce the service life of the
battery or cause it to fail completely, so do not fully discharge the battery.
Discharging the battery only once down to 10.5 V using a relatively low current drain,
for example one Amp, is unlikely to cause permanent damage. A low-voltage cutout
set to 10.5 V would be useful to control the discharge. This point could be considered
the "fully discharged" state. The AH value on the meter can then be set to zero. The
battery is then charged. When fully charged, the meter should show the effective
capacity of the battery in Amp-hours and display a remaining charge of 100%.
