Adjusting Delay Tempo (1)
With PARAMETER Encoder
1. Recall the preset for which you want to adjust the tempo.
2. Press the A-DLY-B SEL switch to select the delay (A, B, or A+B) whose delay tempo you want to adjust.
3. Press the DISP switch to turn on the BPM or mS LED.
4. Press the DLY switch until the D.TIME LED flashes.
5. Turn the PARAMETER encoder to adjust the parameter.
6. Press the PARAMETER encoder to accept the change.
Adjusting Delay Tempo (2) - Tap Function
With PRESET SELECT/TAP Switch
1. Recall the preset for which you want to adjust the tempo.
2. Press the A-DLY-B SEL switch to select the delay (A, B, or A+B) whose delay tempo you want to adjust.
3. Press the DISP switch to turn on the BPM or mS LED.
4. To adjust the parameter, press the PRESET SELECT/TAP switch more than twice.
With Momentary (Unlatch) Type Switch Connected to EXT Terminal
1. Connect a momentary (unlatch) type switch to the EXT terminal.
2. Press the PRESET switch for about 2 seconds.
3. Turn the PARAMETER encoder to select TAP.
4. Press the PARAMETER encoder to confirm.
5. Press the A-DLY-B TAP SEL switch to select the delay (A, B, or A+B) whose delay tempo you want to adjust.
6. Press the DISP switch to turn on the BPM or mS LED.
7.
To adjust the parameter, press the external switch more than twice.
With Control Change Number in MIDI Signal
By receiving a control change number from an external MIDI device, the delay tempo can be adjusted in the same way
as Tap entry with a switch. The MIDI channel for the control change number and the FF-1Y's MIDI channel must be the
same.
MIDI Specifications p.18
Setting up MIDI Receiving Channel p.16
NOTE
The Tap function calculates the BPM value from the time interval between the first and second taps when you press the PRESET SELECT/
TAP switch or the external switch twice.
The tap-entered tempo is recognized as Quarter notes and the BPM value is calculated from their duration. We recommend to set
as explained in Adjusting Delay Tempo (1) if you want to set the delay tempo precisely. To set the tempo while feeling the rhythm of
performance, the method explained in Adjusting Delay Tempo (2) would be more suitable.
If the TAP switch is pressed three times, the last two beats are averaged. If it is pressed four times, the last three beats are averaged,
and for five or more presses, the last four beats are averaged. If the time interval of pressing the TAP switch is out of the range of BPM
30–600, it is judged as invalid and not averaged.
Adjusting Delay Tempo (3) - MIDI Clock
The FF-1Y can synchronize its delay tempo to the MIDI clock received from an external MIDI device.
This is applied only to the delay unit selected by the A-DLY-B TAP SEL switch.
NOTE
The tempo shown on the FF-1Y may differ from the sent tempo due to an error in the device sending the MIDI clock.

Adjusting Feedback Amount
1. Press the A-DLY-B SEL switch to select the delay (A, B, or A+B) whose feedback amount you want to adjust.
2. Press the DLY switch until the FB LED flashes.
3. Turn the PARAMETER encoder to adjust the parameter.
4. Press the PARAMETER encoder to accept the change.
CAUTION!
An excessively high feedback setting can damage your speakers. Be careful with the volume.
NOTE
Available range is 0–127. When the display shows "127," the feedback amount is 100%.
Adjusting Delay Timbre
1. Press the A-DLY-B SEL switch to select the delay (A, B, or A+B) whose delay timbre you want to adjust.
2. Press the DLY switch until the TONE LED flashes.
3. Turn the PARAMETER encoder to adjust the parameter.
4. Press the PARAMETER encoder to accept the change.
NOTE
Placing the "Off" status as a reference, the minus side works as a low-pass filter and the plus side as a high-pass filter. Both can be
set up to -10 dB. A low-pass filter can attain a warm delay sound like that obtained with a tape echo machine. By applying a high-pass
filter to the lower frequencies, you can have settings that will not loose the edge of phrases.
Adjusting Delay Volume
1. Press the A-DLY-B SEL switch to select the delay (A, B, or A+B) whose delay volume you want to adjust.
2. Press the OUTPUT switch until the MIX LED flashes.
3. Turn the PARAMETER encoder to adjust the parameter.
4. Press the PARAMETER encoder to accept the change.
NOTE
Available range is 0–100. When "100" is displayed, you can obtain the delay sound with 100% level (the same level) to the volume of
the sound fed to the delay effect unit.
Adjusting Output Volume
1. Press the A-DLY-B SEL switch (LED status can be A, B, or A+B).
2. Press the OUTPUT switch until the OUT LED flashes.
3. Turn the PARAMETER encoder to adjust the parameter.
4. Press the PARAMETER encoder to accept the change.
NOTE
This parameter setting is common to the delay units A and B.
When "00" is displayed, a unity level is attained in which the dry sound and the input signal are output at the same volume.
When "-63" is displayed, the output is muted.
