2. ACCESSORIES
INSTALLATION OF ACCESSORIES
1. Press down the shaft lock button and hold it down.
2. Grip the collet nut and turn it counterclockwise to loosen it.
3. Place the accessory's shank into the collet as deep as it will go, without forcing.
4. Press and hold the shaft lock button.
5. Tighten the collet nut by turning it finger-tight in a clockwise direction until the accessory is firmly
clamped.
6. Release the shaft lock button.
CHANGING THE COLLET
For accessories with a different shank size, where the accessory shank either does not fit into the collet
because it is too large in diameter, or the collet does not clamp the shank tightly, because it is too small in
diameter;
1. Unscrew (turn counterclockwise) and remove the collet nut completely.
2. Remove the existing brass collet.
3. Choose the correct-size of the other three brass collets. The correct size slides snugly onto the
accessory shaft.
4. Insert the correct collet.
5. Screw the collet nut back on, being careful not to cross-thread it.
6. Install the accessory as above.
ASSEMBLING ACCESSORIES
Some accessory bits require assembly before insertion into the tool and use:
BUFFING WHEEL AND MANDREL
Screw the threaded point of the mandrel into the center hole of the felt buffing
wheel.
(See fig.1, at right.) The rotation direction of the tool will hold the felt wheel
against the flange behind the screw thread.
CUTTING / SANDING DISCS AND MANDREL
1. Unscrew and remove the small bolt and washer from the head of the mandrel
using the included Phillips screwdriver.
2. Place the small washer onto the bolt right behind the bolt head.
3. Place the center hole of the polishing, sanding, or cutting disc onto the shaft of
the bolt.
4. Thread the bolt back into the head of the mandrel. (See the assembly order at
fig.2, right.).
5. Tighten the bolt with the Phillips screwdriver.
6. The rotation direction of the tool will tend to hold the bolt in place.
