CP-1000
Keep the CP-1000 in an upright position at all times.
Reference the parts list and diagram during installation.
1.
Remove the CP-1000 and all additional components from their boxes.
CAUTION: The CP-1000 is very heavy, exercise extreme care when lifting and
moving the unit – two people are suggested.
2.
Remove any tape and/or foam plugs from the inlet (UPFLOW) and outlet
(DOWNFLOW) ports on the CP-1000 and the bypass valve.
3.
Assemble the bypass valve assembly and two (2) elbow assemblies to the CP-1000.
No tools are needed to tighten the quick-connect nuts. The elbows can be rotated
freely even after they are fully tightened to the bypass valve. Ensure both red valves
are rotated to the fully closed position.
4.
Locate the desired positioning for the components of your new purification system
and mount the pre-filter bracket to a wall or other supporting structure. Four (4)
galvanized lag shields (wall anchors) and lag screws are provided. The wall anchors
are for installing the bracket to concrete, brick or block surfaces. Use the four (4)
stainless steel lag screws to attach the top of the pre-filter housing to your bracket.
5.
Turn off the water supply.
6.
Assemble the true union ball valve and pre-filter housing to your incoming water line.
7.
Make connections to the inlet side only of the CP-1000 (labeled UPFLOW) using the
nipples and CPVC union provided. Use the heavy-duty pink thread seal tape pro-
vided. CAUTION: Be careful not to overtighten any connections.
8.
Install the 1-micron filter cartridge into the pre-filter assembly and secure the
sump/bowl with the pre-filter wrench.
9.
Precondition the unit by flushing.
inlet side, temporarily connect the hose adapter assembly to the outlet side (labeled
DOWNFLOW) of the CP-1000. Attach a garden hose to the outlet port of the unit
using this adapter. Run the garden hose to a floor drain or utility sink to remove the
carbon fines and entrapped air from the unit. Slowly turn the water on at the ball
valve and the inlet valve only. When water fills the unit slowly open the outlet valve
to flush the system. On occasion, repeatedly open and close the inlet valve many
times to improve flushing effectiveness. Flush water through the unit for 30 to 60
minutes to remove the air and carbon fines. The darkness of the water during the
flushing process may be disturbing, but this is a normal process and not harmful.
The first few gallons will appear black, then the water will slowly begin to clear. The
media-swirl action within the CP-1000 is swirling and loosening the media in the two
separate stages. Continue flushing the unit until the water runs clear, then detach
the garden hose and hose adapter from the unit. Save your adapter for future use.
