Installing the storage controller module
Prerequisites
CAUTION:
Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple
repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team.
Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions
that came with the product.
NOTE:
This is a field replaceable unit (FRU). Removal and installation procedures must be performed only by Dell certified
service technicians.

Follow the procedure listed in

Keep the T15 Torx screwdriver ready for the storage controller module (SCM) cable screws.

Keep the #2 Phillips screwdriver ready for the screws securing the SCM to the module holder.

Remove the storage controller module.
Steps
1
Align the SCM with the connector on the midplane interface module.

Lower the SCM until it is firmly seated on the connector on the midplane interface module.
3
Install the screws to secure the SCM to the module holder on the midplane interface module.
4
Holding the module cable touch point, align the cable guide pins with the holes on the SCM.
5
Tighten the screws to secure the SCM cable to the module.

The replacement storage controller module is set to HBA mode by default. After replacing a RAID mode licensed
storage controller module, you must set the replacement module to RAID mode.

Set the replacement storage controller module to RAID mode by using the PERC BIOS Configuration Utility (Ctrl+R) or the Human
Interface Infrastructure (HII) utility.
