The Hewlett-Packard Authorization Center will deliver the unique feature key to you by the same
method you use to send your information to the Authorization Center. For example, if you send your
information by e-mail, the Authorization Center will send the feature key to you by e-mail.
NOTE:
Feature keys are encoded to work with the serial number of the installed switch only. Record
the key in case you need to re-install the feature.

If the switch fails and must be replaced, obtain new feature keys from the HP Authorization Center
using the contact information described in
and replacement switches.

Installing a feature key

The feature key is entered using HAFM, Embedded Web Server (EWS), or the command line interface
(CLI).
NOTE:
To use CLI to configure a feature key, see the CLI reference guide.

Installing a feature key using HAFM Basic (Embedded Web Server)

After obtaining the feature key, install the feature using EWS as follows:
1.
Ensure that the browser-capable PC and the Ethernet LAN segment (with the Edge Switch attached)
are connected.
2.
At the PC, launch the browser (Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer).
3.
At the browser, enter the IP address of the Edge Switch as the internet Uniform Resource Locator (URL).
The Enter Network Password dialog box is displayed.
4.
Enter the user name and password, and then click OK.
The Topology view is displayed with status information about each fabric element, including the
product to be configured.
5.
Click Switch Details.
The Hardware view is displayed.
6.
Select Configure > Optional Features.
The Maintenance Feature Installation page (firmware 8.x or later) is displayed
