It is very important to clean the scanner pinch and feed rollers on a
regular basis to avoid paper feeding problems. These rollers should be
cleaned every 10,000 sheets. More frequent cleaning will be required
if scanning paper with a large amount of printing, documents filled
out in pencil, or carbonless multipart forms.
Note:
The fi-5900C Scanner has
nine sets of Pinch and Feed
Rollers with two rollers on
each shaft. The Pinch Rollers
are the upper set of rollers
(grey rollers in drawing). The
Feed Rollers are the lower set
of rollers (black rollers in the
drawing to the right)
•
Clean the Pinch Rollers
on the upper side of the
transport path with a lint
free cloth moistened with F1
Cleaner or isopropyl alcohol.
•
Clean the Feed Rollers
on the lower side of the
transport path with a lint
free cloth moistened with F2
Cleaner.
•
Allow the rollers to dry.
•
Close the ADF Cover.
Notes:
Do not use F2 Cleaner on the Pad, Pick Rollers, Separation Rollers,
Brake Roller, and Upper Feed Rollers.
Make sure that the F2 Cleaner has completely dried before feeding
paper.
