Assembly instructions
When mounting control units, sensors or probes, the relevant regulations and rules of Aquasant Messtech-
nik AG, SEV, the technical regulations for fill level monitors, SUVA, KVU, as well as the EMC directives must
be observed.
The place of installation of Aquasant monitoring systems must be reported to Aquasant Messtechnik AG or
to a licensed company, as well as to the responsible department.
The type of probe and control unit must match and correspond to the application (product-related applica-
tion, ex zone, lightning protection, etc.). During the commissioning and servicing of the system, its function
must be checked with original liquid (or non-hazardous replacement liquid).
The system must be checked or approved in accordance with the regulations of the TTV, SEV, etc. Special
level switches every 3 years / leakage monitoring every 2 years by Aquasant Messtechnik AG or a licensed
company.
In case of product changes, functional capability must be clarified with Aquasant Messtechnik AG or the
system functions must be checked.
The connected values of the power feed must be strictly observed, as shown in the technical data or wiring
diagram. In case of faults in the mains supply, a mains filter or mains stabilizer is recommended.
It is important to ensure that the air can circulate freely around the devices. It is advisable to leave an air gap
of at least 2 cm or more around the individual devices. This prevents a possible heat build-up.
For cabinet installation, the sensor connection cables must be routed separately and at a distance. Intrinsi-
cally safe sensor circuits (blue) must be distanced according to regulations by a thread length of at least 3
cm.
The control unit relay outputs are galvanically isolated and currentless. The currentless state or alarm status
is the same. (relay de-energized). In operation, without alarm, the relays are in the actuated state (self-
monitoring).
®
In order to prevent faults from short-term power failures, Aquasant
control units may need to be connected
to an accumulator or UPS.
All cables must be mounted according to the regulations of the KVU, SEV, SUVA and Aquasant Messtech-
nik AG, etc. The cables have to be mounted with bend protection as well as with a strain relief.
The sensor connection cables must be neatly disconnected and laid at a distance from high voltage and
high frequency cables. In intrinsically safe systems, the sensor connection cables must be coated in blue
(marking).
2
The cross-section of the sensor connection cables should be at least 0.75 mm
. If the probe or sensor con-
nection cables cannot be neatly disconnected and routed at a distance from high voltage current and high
frequency cables, shielded cables must be used. The shielding should be woven and only grounded on the
cabinet or device side.
2
The permissible line length is 1000 meters. The Aquasant cable type LiYY 3 x 0.75 mm
is subject to the
following parameters: R' = 50O/km; L' = 1mH/km; C' = 200 nF/km
Sensor connection cables must, whenever possible, be routed via a suitable, sealed connection box with
screw fitting (max. 5 m from probe or sensor). It must be possible to check the probe or sensor. When strip-
ping the coating, care must be taken that the insulation of the individual wires or strands is not damaged
(risk of short-circuit).
If the cables are routed via junction boxes, a wiring diagram must then be drawn up. A suitable, approved
sealed outlet with screw fittings must be used.
