Trouble Shooting

Observation
LCD display does not light up.
Touch screen not responding.
Keypad not responding or missing entries.
Printer is noisy.

Warning: The printer head may become hot. Unplug
the terminal and allow 2-3 minutes time to cool before
trouble shooting.
Printer paper will not advance.
Pin pad or Barcode Reader does not work.
Modem or Ethernet does not work reliably.
Credit card will not read.
Check will not read.
Check will not enter the terminal.
Screen is too light or too dark.

Adjust the display settings by pressing at the SAME
time:
* and Enter: Increase Brightness
* and Alpha: Decrease Brightness
* and Clear: Increase Contrast
* and Back: Decrease Contrast

Action
Reseat the power connector into the terminal.
Reseat the power cable into the power supply.
Reseat the power plug into the wall socket.
Safely confirm the wall socket has power by
plugging a known-good 110V device into it.
Remove protective film from LCD.
Use pen or stylus.
Power cycle the terminal.
Pause one second between each key strike.
Depress each key fully.
Power cycle the terminal.
Open the printer lid and confirm the rubber
roller on the lid spins freely.
Confirm the roll on the lid is oriented with the
gear on the left side.
Confirm the lid closes fully and locks on both
sides. (No angle)
Check the left side of the printer for debris in
the gears.
Oriented paper roll with the paper coming off
the bottom, not over the top.

Power cycle the terminal.
Power cycle the terminal.
Connect device to the other COM port and
power cycle the terminal.
See IP Diagnostics section to check settings.
Power cycle the terminal.
Replace the cable and power cycle the
terminal.
Connect a compatible known-good device
directly to the source connection.
Swipe card faster. Swipe card slower.
Swipe card with dark magnetic band at bottom
and facing towards the unit (to the left).
Power cycle the terminal.
Check for debris in track.
Reinsert check with proper orientation. Use
gravity to align the bottom edge of the check
with the horizontal edge guide.
Flatten any heavy creases or bent corners on
the check. Reinsert.

Clean the "optional" cleaning areas of the
check track. (See section above.)
Power cycle the terminal.
